Basti’s former Bahubali minister Rajkishore Singh along with his brother Brij Kishore Singh Dimple and supporters joined BJP on Thursday. Earlier, Rajkishore and his brother also met Union Home Minister Amit Shah along with sitting Basti MP and Lok Sabha candidate Harish Dwivedi. After this, he took membership of the party by wearing a saffron belt at the state headquarters of BJP. Deputy Chief Minister Brijesh Pathak and State Bhupendra Chaudhary got membership to all the new people including Rajkishore.
Let us tell you that in his political journey of about 22 years, Rajkishore came and went to SP, BSP and Congress many times. He was also a minister thrice in BSP and SP governments. He also contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Basti seat and got about 56 thousand votes, when the political position of Congress was very weak. In this election, Rajkishore had shown his dominance by getting 56 thousand votes on his own. However, after losing the elections, Rajkishore left Congress and joined BSP again in the year 2020. But last year, BSP expelled Rajkishore after his meeting with Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
Ever since his expulsion from BSP, Rajkishore was searching for a new political destination. There were speculations about his joining BJP long ago but now he has been included in BJP. Sources say that Rajkishore first wanted assurance of Lok Sabha ticket from Basti, but the BJP leadership was not ready. At present, agreement has been reached only on including him in the party.
Brij Kishore has also contested elections
Brij Kishore, who started politics by contesting student union elections, has also contested Basti elections on SP ticket in the year 2014. But he lost the elections. After this, the SP government made him advisor in the Energy Ministry. Later both the brothers left SP and joined Congress in the year 2019. After this, he again joined BSP in the year 2020.
